Peace Corps

A little brief about Peace Corps..

During John F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign, he was at the University of Michigan and asked students if they would be willing to serve their country and the cause of peace by living and working in a developing world.  And on March 1st 1961, he signed an order which established Peace Corps.

In over 140 countries, Peace Corps Volunteers work in different fields to impact the communities where they serve.  As well as partake in Global Initiative such as Let Girls Learn, Food Security, Emergency Plan for AIDS and Malaria Initiative. Volunteers live with host families and work with host country agencies so they are able to create partnerships and make a difference in their communities.

The Peace Corps Mission is to promote world peace and friendship by fulfilling three goals:

  1. To help the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women.
  2. To help promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served.
  3. To help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans.
